God's Protection

Doug and I had one of the most scary days of our lives yesterday. I guess I will start from the beginning so I can set the story up.

We decided about a month ago to purchase a chocolate lab puppy. We were able to find him on the internet and made plans to pick him up yesterday. We left our house about 12 and headed to Landenburg, PA to get our new puppy!! We had a good trip down and had no problems finding the house, thanks to our GPS. We were able to get him and be back on the road by about 3:15. I get motion sickness in the car and so I told Doug that I would drive home. He sat next to me with our new puppy in his lap. We had put him in the crate in the back at first but he was making such a fuss that we thought we would just keep him up front with us. That's when things took a turn for the worse.

We were headed down a main route not far from where we picked up the dog when a truck decided to make a left hand turn right in front of us. That was probably one of the most scary moments of my life. I had no idea what was about to happen and I was really scared for Doug and I and our new puppy. But, we have an amazing God who is control of our lives and I stand in awe today of how he protected us.

Our puppy was taken to the police station where they took great care of him. I went in the ambulance with Doug because he was complaining of neck and right arm pain and they wanted to make sure he was ok. Doug only sustained a minor hematoma to his right arm bicep and the doctor says that he will be fine in a few days. I did wake up with some neck and back pain this morning, but other then that we are just fine.

I guess I just cannot put into words how amazing our God is. After looking at the car when we went to get some things out of it I can only say PRAISE GOD!! Our car can be replaced, but my husband cannot be and I was so thankful to lay down next to him last night and be blessed to continue to share our life together!!

Anyway, this was not the post I thought I would be making today. I figured I would just tell you all about the dog and share some pictures. I guess this is just a more unique story that we will always have to share surrounding the day we got our first puppy!! Here are some pictures of him since I know that is what everyone wants to see. Thank you to all of you who were praying for us last night. Our God is great!!

The wedding

Doug and I went up to Clarks Summit this weekend for Dave and Katrina's wedding. Dave is one of Doug's older brothers. Everything was really nice and we had a great time. It is always nice to be together as a family. I really enjoy being with Doug's family because I have come to find out that big families are so much fun. Ok, I guess that makes it sound like my family is boring, which is not the case, it is just a totally different dynamic. Anyway, before I get myself in trouble I will stop talking about that.
While we were up there I took Doug out for his birthday. I worked for a cafe in Clarks Summit for four years before Doug and I got married last year. Doug used to come in almost every morning and have breakfast and has grown fond of a specific breakfast sandwich they have there. So, I took him out for a birthday breakfast. Then after eating breakfast they brought out Doug's favorite chocolate cake. Thanks Steph so much for making that; it was Awesome!!!
We had a great weekend, but I am happy to be home. Doug and I have had a very busy summer and have been gone almost every weekend even into the fall. So, we are very happy that we get to be home for a while now. Until next time...

I love my husband

So I decided I would take a few moments just to express how truly thankful I am for my husband. God has blessed me beyond anything that I could imagine. Doug has a love for the Lord and a desire to serve Him and it is so evident in his life. We have been married only a little over a year now, but it has been such a cool year. We are so blessed to live on an Island on the Delaware River where we have been given so much time to get to know each other. Although I work at Starbucks during the day and he is here at the camp, we have almost every evening together and it has given us a lot of time to grow and learn. Doug always does his best to put me first and to make the kinds of decisions that would first of all please God, but that he knows will be best for both he and I. He is so great with helping around the house and doing his part here in our home. He is never afraid to be honest with me and say the things that need to be said, even if they hurt a little at first. I love you Douglas and I am so glad that I get to share my life with you. I am proud of all that you do and the man that you are. Thank you for your love.

My first day of blogging

Hello there to the world of bloggers. I am not so sure what I am doing, but blogging seems like the latest thing and so I thought I would give it a try. Plus my sister Tricia is begging me to actually put something on my blog. You see, I have had this blog for quite some time. I started it a few months ago, but I had a hard time figuring things out and needed the assistance of my husband. Well, we will see how it goes!! Talk to you all soon.
